As you can see this turned out to be a really fun project, but here is the scary thing:
Just prior to the road trip to Colorado, Roy and I took Last Ride out to Sun Valley Flyers to show the One Eight Air Force the project. That morning one of the guys snapped a photo which captured smoke drifting in front of the plane
.
Now capturing smoke in a photo is no big deal – but capturing smoke on camera, at the airfield, in an six mile an hour crosswind is different and capturing smoke that is formed up looking just like the flight crew is another thing.
If you look closely at the smoke you can see a crew member Strapped into his chair with a Mae West Vest, Flight Cap with the brim flipped back, you can even see the head set with wire cable extending out. This is the detailing on the crew members inside Last Ride.
Around here, those of us in this hobby are not prone to believe the funny stuff out there, but this one has some of us looking at each other and just shaking our heads as we walk away with a big smile.
